Art of Illusion

By Blake Walker

We all know that Art is not truth. Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth, at least the truth that is given to us to understand.
- Pablo Picasso

Art of Illusion is a compilation of some of my opinions and thoughts on magic, art and philosophy. I try to nail myself down on major subjects of debate such as religion. I also try to show how flawed our perception is, even when we think we are seeing it all. How symbolism is the language of our brain and I believe we can exploit this powerful knowledge. Use these magic lessons as a guide to the realization that we as humans simply don't know everything we think we know. Click here to begin your fools journey. Art of Illusion

I see the magic trick as an allegory for the greater lessons about perception.

Preface

Before I begin let me say these are my opinions and I realize that my thoughts are constantly evolving and I may believe differently in the future. Because my beliefs now are so different than at other times in my life. I also believe what is right for one person may not be right for another.

I think as natural creators people make connections between things all day, sometimes they are connecting the dots and sometimes they are connecting dots that are not there. I would like to propose that sometimes making that false assumption has a residual benefit. Remember every real object a person creates or designs first comes from a thought, first connections of ideas, only then can the manifestation of a new object begin. So reality is born out of imagination or fiction, it's opposite. In turn those first thoughts or connections come mostly from the artist's "real world" perceptions. This concept of something being born out of it's opposite, is symbolised in the yin yang symbol.
